Watch out for pigeons

If you don’t want pigeon muck on your head, avoid lamp posts.

Cole’s Coal Truck in the Yard

Edward R Cole was one of the merchants that my parents bought coal from in Cirencester in the 1950s. I never saw one of their wagons, probably all absorbed into British Railways stock by then, or scrapped, but when I found it in the Powsides catalogue, I had to have it.

It’s unlikely that it would have ended up in a yard away from home as I imagine these wagons were confined to working between their home depot and a colliery somewhere, probably in the Forest of Dean.

And a Happy New Year!
